Does My Rent Include Unlimited Utilities?

Does My Rent Include Unlimited Utilities?

While your rent with ShareSorted includes utilities such as electricity, gas, water, and internet, it is important to note that these utilities are not unlimited. This is clearly specified in your Occupancy agreement.

Included Utilities

1. Electricity

Basic electricity usage is included in your rent. This covers typical consumption necessary for lighting, appliances, and other everyday needs.

2. Gas

If applicable (not all properties has gas connections), gas usage, such as for cooking and heating, is also included in your rent, ensuring you have the essentials for comfortable living.

3. Water

Water usage is included, covering both hot and cold water for daily activities like showering, cleaning, and cooking.

4. Internet

Internet access is included, allowing you to stay connected for work, study, and leisure.

Utilities Are Not Unlimited

Usage Limit

While utilities are included, they are subject to reasonable usage caps. These caps are based on typical consumption levels to ensure fair and sustainable use of resources. The specific limits are detailed in your occupancy agreement.

Example Scenario: If a property has an air conditioning unit that is left on 24 hours a day, the resulting electricity bill can be extremely high. Such excessive usage goes beyond the reasonable consumption levels accounted for in the utilities cap.

Determining the Utilities Cap

1. Experience-Based Utility Limits
ShareSorted has determined the utilities limit based on years of experience collecting data from managing thousands of properties. These limits are designed to cover normal, everyday usage without imposing additional charges on occupants who use their utilities responsibly.

2. ShareSorted Fair Usage Policy
The fair usage policy ensures that all occupants can enjoy their utilities without any one person causing excessive costs that impact the overall management of the property.

Avoiding Additional Charges

1. Normal Usage

If you use your utilities normally, it is very unlikely that you will incur additional charges. Normal usage includes turning off lights and appliances when not in use, not running heating or cooling systems unnecessarily, and being mindful of water consumption.

2. Monitoring Consumption

Regularly monitor your usage of high-consumption appliances like heaters, air conditioners, and large electrical devices. Being conscious of your usage habits can help you stay within the utilities cap and avoid extra costs.

3. Communication

If you have concerns or foresee a need for higher utility usage (e.g., during extreme weather conditions), communicate with ShareSorted. They can provide guidance on how to manage your usage effectively.

Important Considerations
